INFORMATION:

Iowa Grade School and Junior High State Championships
February 21st, 2010

DATE: February 21st, 2010—Wrestling Starts at 9:00am SHARP!!

SITE:   Vets Auditorium, Des Moines Iowa

 

CUT-OFF:  We can only accept the first 1200 wrestlers

RULES: Modified National Federation Rules—Folkstyle (minimum rest between matches and maximum number of matches not in effect).  

 

ELIGIBILITY: Open to Iowa Residents ONLY!!!!

 

HEADGEAR: Headgear is required.

 

JUNIOR HIGH -Championship matches are three (3) one and one half (1-1/2) minute periods. Consolation matches are three (3) one (1) minute periods. (Choice of position at end of period)

 

GRADE SCHOOL— Championship matches are two (2) two (2) minute periods with each period starting in the neutral position.  Consolation matches are two (2) one and one half  (1-1/2) minute periods.           

                  
ENTRY DEADLINE: Online Registration Closes February 14th, 2010 at midnight…. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!

 

FEE: $34.00 to be paid online when you register..  No refunds!!

 

LATE REGISTRATION AND WALK-INS: There will be a $20.00 fee on top of the registration fee for late registration and walk-ins.  You can ONLY walk-in at weigh-ins.  NO walk-ins the morning of the tournament. If you register late, your name will NOT be listed in the event program or on the tournament T-shirt.

 

CHANGING WEIGHT CLASSES:  You may change weight classes.  If you change weight classes after the February 14th deadline there will be a $20.00 fee.  Please make sure when you register, that you list your wrestler in the right weight class.  For example, If you register your wrestler in the 100 pound weight class, he/she cannot weigh anymore than 100.0.  If he/she weighs 100.1, he/she is overweight.  If you have any questions, please E-mail me before you register.


TWO DIVISIONS:  Wrestlers can wrestle in two divisions.  Wrestlers can only move up a division, they cannot move down.  If you wrestle in two divisions you take on the risk of having two matches at the same time.  We will NOT hold up any matches.   If you wrestle in two divisions you will have to register twice and pay two registration fees.  You will also have to pick up two weigh-in cards.

 

FORMAT: Double Elimination –  will wrestle to top 8 in each weight bracket. Referee’s decision final.  

 

BIRTH CERITIFICATES:  Birth certificates must be available if requested by tournament directors.

 

AWARDS: Medals for the Top 8 place winners in the Grade School and Junior High Division. 

 

TEAM AWARDS:  We will award the top 3 teams.  Everyone that wrestles in the tournament will score points for their team.

 

COACHES: Only two coaches allowed per wrestler during the match. Coaches must have a coaching band to be in the coaching chairs in his/her wrestler’s corner.

 

Liberty Nationals –February 20th:  If you register for both the Liberty Nationals and the Iowa Grade School and Junior High State Tournament, we will allow you to skip the weigh-ins.  We will use your Liberty Nationals weigh-in for your official weight.  You MUST E-mail me at Brian@IowaStateTournament and let me know that you will be wrestling in both tournaments.   You must also include the following information in your E-mail.
